Point Loma Triathlon Race Approaches
Point Loma Aquatic Center once again is the gathering place for the San Diego Triathlon Classic on Saturday, September 18. Known as San Diego’s only Olympic Distance Race, the San Diego Triathlon Classic is celebrating its 36th year and expects many participants this year.
The race course has a 1.5K flat-water protected swim in the San Diego Bay is followed by a 40K hilly bike ride through Cabrillo National Park and the Point Loma Naval Base, and a quick, flat bay front run. The course is multi-loop which allows spectators to enjoy multiple views of the participants. It is a USAT sanctioned event and USAT rules must be followed.
The Point Loma two-day expo for families and participants begins on Friday, September 17 from 2-7pm in the southeastern lawn of NTC Park. Participants must register, pick up race materials and sign waivers during that time. Various vendors and entertainment options are available at the expo and throughout the course.
