Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego
Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego
San Diego opened the Museum of Contemporary Art in a new downtown area in 2007. This annex gave way to the end of the historic Santa Fe Depot, which was built in 1915. The depot is now converted to a state-of-the-art museum, as well as an educational facility for the young minds. The museum is designed by the same architect who gave beauty the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh and the Museo Picasso in Spain. There is a wing wherein there are 30,000 feet of programming space, other expansion areas feature the works of popular artists, Richard Serra, Jenny Holzer and more.
The MCASD is the region’s highly devoted place for the discovery and presentation of today’s generation of art, all in different forms of media created ever since the 1950s. Within the museum, people will find international collections, exhibits, and public programs.
