About Marine Room

Marine Room is a high end restaurant that has a somewhat casual vibe since it’s in La Jolla. One major perk is that it isn’t a valet only restaurant. Many swanky restaurants are valet only, even when there’s ample parking lot space for guests to park themselves. At Marine Room, valet parking is certainly an option, but it isn’t your only option. The place does get busy, so you may have to do a bit of circling to get a spot, but if you are willing to wait it out, there’s a good chance you won’t have to pay for parking. Marine Room is a seafood restaurant as one might guess from the name.
The servers are eager to make you feel at home. The corkage fee is $25 and the staff is well-acquainted with the many different wines offered at the restaurant. For wine lovers, this is definitely a place where you can learn about new and different wines, even if you think you’ve sipped them all.

What to Order

The chef always aims to please, but it’s common for guests to ask for the chef’s recommendations when ordering. You may not know what you’re getting when you order like this, but you can be sure it will be one of the favorite, innovative dishes the restaurant is known for. Scallops, fish and shrimp are all primary entrees at Marine Room. For starters, the lobster bisque is done in a unique way that will wow anyone who has a penchant for creamy soups. It’s a lobster bisque done with brulee. While this may sound strange, the brulee adds the perfect sweetness to the soup and the thick bisque goes down smoothly. It can be a meal in itself if you’re a light eater.
Scallops and prawn are served with zucchini and eggplant foam. The Alaskan halibut is coated in red walnuts for a crunchy exterior and served alongside black rice, tomato confit and chorizo oil with saffron sauce. It’s a delightful blend of flavors that are sure to leave a positive mark on your palette. For something hearty, the rack of lamb is juicy and flavorful.

How Much?

Believe it or not, during happy hour, everything on the cocktails and appetizer menus are a mere seven bucks! That means you can stop by Marine Room and get a solid feel for the food without spending a bundle. Their cocktails are exceptional and bartenders are always willing to whip up a custom drink if there’s something you’re in the mood for that isn’t on the menu.
For entrees, the prices range from $25-$35. It isn’t dirt cheap, but it’s well worth the service, quality of food and scenic views. The dining room for Marine Room is right on the water, but it’s an enclosed space, so you never have to worry about getting too cold because you’re so close to the ocean. Go with friends or your partner for a stroll down the beach after dinner, which will cap off a truly memorable experience.
