Live in La Jolla and Go to Warwick’s Author Talks
If you’re lucky enough to live in La Jolla, you probably know what a treasure Warwick’s independent bookshop is. They carry a unique variety of books and writing supplies. They also host author talks, with a focus on authors who live in La Jolla homes.
On Monday, September 16th at 7:30 p.m., Judith Fox will discuss her new book One Foot Forward: Stories and Faces of Widows and Widowers. Ms. Fox is an award-winning local photographer. She was widowed when she was 50. Most people are not comfortable talking about issues of end of life care, death, or widowhood, but Ms. Fox believes in sharing her story.
Judith Fox tells the stories of people who were widowed at age 20 all the way to 70. Some deaths were unexpected. Others were the result of chronic illness. No two people profiled in the book have the same story of loss. Neither do they have the same story of healing. All of them have a determination to survive and ultimately thrive. These stories are amazingly life affirming. They detail how people find a way to keep going in the face of terrible loss. Click here for more details.
Warwick’s will donate a portion of profits on the book to Elizabeth Hospice. Judith Fox will donate 100% of royalties to National Hospice Foundation. People who live in La Jolla and have dealt with terrible loss will want to come for this inspiring and powerful evening.
