La Jolla Neighborhoods: The Village

News, Village Community | 22nd Dec 2012

Small Beach Town Appeal Next to a Major Metropolis

La Jolla is a small city sited along a spectacular stretch of coastline in the northern part of San Diego County.  The coastline here consists of rolling hills and tablelands that end abruptly in steep bluffs that tower over many secret coves as well as broad swaths of sandy beaches.  The weather in La Jolla is famous for being one of the most equitable in the world.  Summer days here rarely will top 80 degrees, and the daytime highs will reach into the 60’s in winter.  This promotes an active, outdoor lifestyle among residents.  The city of La Jolla can be subdivided into a number of smaller neighborhoods such The Village.

Calling a place a village brings to mind bucolic visions of a rustic countryside.  The Village of La Jolla manages to combine that rustic flavor with the convenience of living close to a major metropolis.  Downtown San Diego is only minutes away via I-5.  La Jolla Shores lies to the north and Bird Rock is to the south.  In La Jolla, The Village comprises what can be called the downtown area.  There is an eclectic mix here of specialty shops and trendy restaurants.  The area has a vibrant nightlife.  La Jolla has become one of the most popular places for young adults to settle.

Prospect Street is the main thoroughfare in The Village.  It has a unique collection of bars, boutiques, coffee houses, and clothing stores.  This attractive mix attracts throngs of patrons throughout the day and well into the night.  People making the scene here will find that there is always something new to try as well as something old worth revisiting.

Great Location for Living the Good Life Southern California Style

The Village occupies a choice spot along the Pacific Ocean.  The coast here presents many recreational opportunities.  Surfers travel here from around the world to ride waves that are world renown for their even shape and structure.  Surf fishing is also good, and the sandy beach is often filled with people enjoying a relaxing day at the shore.

The Village is a hot spot for young professionals who appreciate the eclectic atmosphere and convenient closeness to all the attractions of a nearby big city.  At the same time, they can enjoy the small town ambience that The Village exemplifies.

By managing to blend big city buzz with small town charm, The Village has built up a population base that enjoys an enviable standard of living.  Few places in Southern California can match it.

La Jolla boasts one of the highest average home prices in the nation.  Much of this can be attributed to the desirability of living in neighborhoods such The Village.  There is considerable variation in the type of residential property that is available here.  Everything from a waterfront mansion to an urban loft can be found within this compact zone.  Opportunities abound for buyers.
