La Jolla Neighborhoods: Soledad South

La Jolla Community, News | 18th Nov 2012

Friendly Community Found Near the Shore

The enclave known as Soledad South in La Jolla displays a diversity of homes and planned communities.  The range of choices provides something for everyone in a wide range of prices.  The homes and condos in this section of La Jolla were built in the 1960’s or later and are available in all sorts of styles to cater to the tastes of all kinds of buyers.

Soledad South has a number of well planned and gated communities such as Windmere and Ridgegate.  Mt. La Jolla is a community that is not gated.  Homes in this area start at around $500,000 and go up to $3.3 million.  The view is a big seller here, and many homes command views of the bay, ocean, and skyline of downtown San Diego.  A number of the older residences have been extensively remodeled.

Many people like this locale because it has affordable homes in a beautiful community.  The area has easy access to the freeway despite lying athwart a mountain top.  Commuters can use the Via Capri onramp to the north or the Pacific Beach onramp heading south.  Houses here are highly desirable because of the great location and the quality of the construction.

Soledad Mountain is the focal point for development here.  The long Soledad Mountain Road has nicely planned communities along its route with a large mix of housing styles.  Many of these look out on the ocean or into back country providing scenic vistas in either direction.

A Closed Look at Well Planned Communities

For those seeking some spectacular real estate at affordable prices, a trip along Soledad Mountain Road is warranted.  There is the master planned community of Mount La Jolla which has 234 homes.  It was built in 1972 and features both detached homes and duplexes.  There is lots of open space, and the development also contains a clubhouse, exercise room, tennis courts, pools, and spas.

The Windemere neighborhood is gated with 24 hour security guard.  This enclave has 303 town homes and patio homes.  It was built in 1973 and features large greenbelts for privacy.  Windemere also has a clubhouse, exercise room, tennis courts, pools, and racquet ball court.

Another private gated neighborhood found here is Ridgegate La Jolla.  This is a community of detached homes that have views into San Diego’s back country.  It was built in 1995-98.  This community has a clubhouse and a pool.

All of these communities afford a great opportunity to enjoy the La Jolla lifestyle.  That is a brand of outdoor living which includes luxury interiors.

La Jolla has long been known as a favored place for people to live.  The weather here is marvelous throughout the year.  Ocean breezes stave off freezes in winter and prevent heat from building up in the summer.  The coastline here is especially dramatic with rolling tablelands ending in cliffs, rocky promontories ringing coves, and broad sandy beaches.
