La Jolla Neighborhoods in Focus: Muirlands West

shutterstock_137373617Quaint, quiet and located in the very heart of La Jolla, Muirlands West is a fully residential neighborhood with approximately 170 homes within its borders. Relaxation and serenity characterize the mood here. La Jolla Country Club and nearby beaches to the west and Soledad Natural Park to the northeast give residents numerous options for enjoying the great outdoors, while dining and shopping in the Village are also nearby. This lovely area of La Jolla offers traditional homes with many older homes now being renovated and remodeled. Muirlands West of La Jolla has beautifully landscaped wide streets, cul-del-sacs, mature trees and breathtaking views of the Pacific.

If you’re looking for larger lots with comfortable sized homes, many single level, then Muirlands West is for you. This neighborhood remains an affordable alternative to coastline estate properties. The homes in the Muirlands West were built in the 1970′s and 80′s. It is the smallest of all 16 neighborhoods in La Jolla. This beautiful community appeals to everyone from families with children to seniors enjoying their golden years.

Prices for a home in this area start around $1.5 million with many ranging in the $2-3 million range. The properties are geared toward families and many of them have pools and large backyards for the kids to play in. Because of its close proximity to local schools, many children walk or bike to and from school. Muirlands West is more affordable than some of the other neighborhoods in La Jolla though the homes are still just as spacious and distinct as other neighboring communities.

Muirlands West has three private schools at its eastern boundary: All Hallows Academy (K thru 8th), the Evans School (pre thru 6th), and the San Diego French-American School (pre thru 8th).

Muirlands West Lifestyle

Muirlands West has numerous recreational opportunities including beaches, shopping, dining and parks and the best part is that they are all within walking distance. Also having the new Olympic sized swimming pool at the high school allows locals to purchase daily, weekly and yearly passes to enjoy swimming year-round. For the outdoor enthusiasts, you can take a scenic hike to the top of Mt. Soledad. In addition, the close proximity to The Village and beaches makes Muirlands West of La Jolla a top pick among residents of San Diego.

La Jolla has just 3 high-rises that were grandfathered in before height restrictions were put in place. 939 Coast is the only one on the ocean in La Jolla and we love selling these luxury condos. Stay tuned for what we might have coming next…
