La Jolla Home to 2012 Urban Dare
Urban Dare will be bringing high adventure and a competitive spirit to the community surrounding your La Jolla home. On Saturday, August 4th, you can join in the fun of the one day, one-of-a kind extreme sport race by meeting at the La Jolla Brew House at 11 a.m. This high stake Urban Dare brings trivia, photo skills, hunting abilities, and both mental and physical trials into a crazy contest of teams. Your two person team will receive twelve clues and your goal is to solve them! All teams will be seen throughout the area in light blue shirts, so if you are not playing, feel free to offer any insight you might have, if you see them. Help is accepted gladly from strangers and passer-bys who live in La Jolla.
Contestants can also use technology to reach out to friends. GPS devices are recommended for mapping features, as well, to help in solving clues distributed at the checkpoints. Contestants have the option of walking, running or utilizing public transportation throughout La Jolla to accomplish their goal, as the race may span an area of up to seven miles. Time varies, but winners generally finish the race in under three hours. Participants must register and sign appropriate release forms and the two person team cost is $90. If you want to compete as a larger group, three and four person teams are being accepted at a higher registration rate. Race proceeds will be donated and you can find out more by visiting the Urban Dare website.
