La Jolla Fashion Film Festival – July 26-28, 2012
If fashion film is your thing – or you just enjoy looking at the people who make it – you need to head on down to La Jolla for the La Jolla Fashion Film Festival – the first international fashion film festival in North America. Touted as being the place to be for fashion film professionals, the 2011 festival was the largest gathering of fashion film professionals in history. The roster for 2012 is expected to once again break records.
The La Jolla Fashion Film Festival, or the LJFFF for short, brings the best of the international fashion film art movement to Southern California in three completely different screening programs, taking place July 26 – 28 at 8pm each night. Each night consists of approximately 20 short films.
“Fashion Films” are a genre of cinematic short films that bring together artists, filmmakers and designers as a method of introducing new clothing collections of both established and emerging fashion houses to the marketplace.
The LJFFF showcases the best in fashion films and provides attendees the opportunity to understand this unique genre and those who work in it. The films presented represent classics of fashion film culture, as well as cutting edge works that have tense plots and are art-based. Many of the films presented defy definition.
Some of the directors, filmmakers and designers presenting films at this year’s festival include Karl Largerfeld, Bruce Weber, Luca Finotti, Bruno Aveillan, Jonas Akerlund, Frank Funke, Matthew Frost, Jens Hallmann, Naqia Lee, and Zoe Hitchen.
All of the films presented will be featured on the Fashion Film Network’s digital stream before, during and after the festival. This helps to provide a continuing discussion for the fashion film community and gives everyone an insight into the creative process. The LJFFF has been featured in such prominent publications as W Magazine, Vogue and WWD as well as countless blogs and websites.
The LJFFF also provides seminars and panel discussions to explore this exciting new genre. The events help us to understand how web tech trends impact the creation and distribution of fashion films, how to use social media for branding campaigns, and how to increase distribution through the movement’s thought leaders and influencers.
And don’t forget the parties! These exclusive events give attendees the chance to meet and mingle with others in the business including actors, models, directors and other industry professionals.
The festival is held in the beautiful beach community of La Jolla, featuring pristine coastline, parks, bays and the famous Prospect Avenue. It gives attendees the experience of a world class seaside resort.
The LJFFF will be held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla, with the after party at the trendy Barfly. For more information and to purchase tickets to events, visit the website at www.ljfff.com. This is one unique festival you’ll be talking about to your friends for years to come!
