Opening night begins with “String Spectacular” at the MCASD Sherwood Auditorium. Ongoing concerts are held throughout the week, culminating with the Summer Fest Finale entitled “Twin Titans” on Friday, August 27 at 6:30 p.m. Summer Fest brings other opportunities, as well. Mornings with Master Teachers and Fellowship Artists on weekday mornings at La Jolla Riford Library, open rehearsals, and informational “encounters” are also offered free of charge to those wishing to expand their musical knowledge.
Summer Fest is a great way to share special time with friends and discounted group rates are available with the purchase of ten or more tickets. A free season preview entitled SummerFest: Under the Stars showcasing favorites from Schumann, Halvorsen, “Salon Music”, Sarasate, Mendelssohn, Vivaldi and Kabalevsky can be heard at the Ellen Browning Scripps Park on Wednesday, August 4th. The music begins at 7:30 p.m., and picnic style seating is first come first served. Program notes are available at the La Jolla Music Society website for this and all upcoming concerts.
