Family-Friendly New Year’s Eve Celebrations
Kids are just as excited to ring in the new year as their parents are! Here a few ways your little ones can celebrate the coming of 2015. Good news — some of them end early enough so that you can tuck them in, wave to the babysitter, and head out for a second party, just for grownups! It’s the best of both worlds!
Pajama Jam New Year’s Family Night Out: Jump into your jammies and head to the New Children’s Museum for Pajama Jam! During the event you’ll be treated to a delicious dinner, New Year’s-themed art activities, games, music and a countdown balloon drop! Adults will enjoy a hosted bar and the opportunity to bid on prizes in a silent auction. December 27, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. $20-$35.
New Year’s Eve at the Living Coast Discovery Center: It’s tough to find a unique, affordable New Year’s Eve event in San Diego. And for families, your options are typically just staying in, or finding a babysitter. Well, it’s time to change all that. Mark your calendars for December 31st to ring in the New Year in style at the Living Coast! This event will feature hot chocolate bar (mint, marshmallows, sea salted caramel, etc) with fresh baked cookies & treats, champagne (or sparkling cider) toast at “midnight” (9:00 PM PST/ 12:00 AM EST), wildlife animal encounters, fun family souvenir photo to ring in 2015, a kids’ movie room with arts & crafts (children 4yrs & up: parents can drop kiddos off and take a romantic walk to the see the stars on San Diego Bay), a teen room with games and snacks, and a 21+ San Diego Bay overlook with champagne cocktails. Be sure to bundle up, because during the party you’ll be able to enjoy trail walks to see the stars on San Diego Bay and visit with the wildlife at the Living Coast (the owls and sharks are more active after dark!). The event’s attire is pretty much anything you like! Wear tuxedos or tuxedo t-shirts, fancy dresses or comfy jeans…whatever makes you feel good. The staff will be wearing vintage cocktail attire, if you’d like to join in the theme in your own wardrobe. December 31, 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM. $10-$16.
