Dinosaurs and Gems Delight at Balboa Park
This summer is a great time to visit the San Diego Natural History Museum in Balboa Park. Did you know that San Diego county residents and active-duty military personnel get free admission on Tuesdays? Enjoy an afternoon with dinosaur giants in the ongoing exhibit Fossil Mysteries, and feathered dinosaurs in the current exhibit Dinosaurs: Ancient Fossils, New Discoveries. Bring the family on Sunday afternoons this summer until August 29, from 11am-3pm and enjoy dinosaur crafts, experts and friends at Balboa Park!
For an additional cost, you can still see All That Glitters: The Splendor and Science of Gems and Minerals. You’ll learn the historical significance behind the beautiful surface of each ruby, sapphire, diamond, and opal. Did you know that San Diego County is one of the most famous gem-producing regions in the world? You can catch a glimpse of natural mineral crystals, one of a kind jewelry, and art creations, some being displayed for the first time. This exhibit houses objects from the Smithsonian, the American Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, as well. Learn more by clicking here.
