Cortez Blu Condos are located in Cortez Hill, a neighborhood situated in the north-east part of Downtown San Diego, California. The district is bordered by the Ash Street in the north and A Street in the south, and is one of the most fashionable and quiet places to live in town.

The location

The neighborhood, Cortez Hill, get its name from the historic El Cortez Hotel since it is one of the oldest residential places in town. Actually, it is made of two neighborhoods spread on over one hundred acres. Its eastern part is dominated by the El Cortez Condominium, where it used to be the EL Cortez Hotel, a zone that rises on the highest land mass of downtown. At the same time, its western part in referred to as the Cortex West. Also, the neighborhood slowly developed in time it started to be seen as the ideal residential place. It all began in 1992 when the Redevelopment Agency came with the idea of redesigning the hill in order to encourage the construction of residential buildings and create a flow of commercial infill. As a result, currently the western park of Cortez Hill features several churches, parks and cafés that make it colorful and alive. Commercial shops and luxurious restaurants in the Ash Street and the Fifth and Sixth Avenues are also part of the environment, being at the same time some sort of separation from the waterfront. Also, being situated on one of the highest portions of land in San Diego, from Cortez Hill you can admire the city’s finest attractions, such as Balboa Park, the Pacific Ocean bay, and numerous others.
