Coronado Home To “Visions of Coronado”
If you live in Coronado, you’ll be interested to know that the beloved town of Coronado as it persists in the minds and hearts of its people and is currently showcased in an art show featuring the perspective of local artists. Visions of Coronado is the current juried art show lasting through February 20th at the Coronado Museum of History and Art. This inspiring show consists of 24 recent works by local artists depicting some aspect of what’s it’s like to live in Coronado. These selections were chosen from 60 original pieces submitted by artists from all over San Diego County. The show’s theme is expressed using a wide variety of media, materials and styles depicting some beautiful images.
For some of us the name “Coronado” invokes images of the historic hotel in a seaside setting and for others it is an old-fashioned American small town. Still others might picture an island community closely bound to the US Navy. Each of these perspectives of the Crown Isle is special in its own right and has been inspiring artists since the town’s beginnings in the late 1800s.
