Coronado – Home to Healthy Living
Are you aware that Coronado was named a “Healthy Eating Active Living” city this month in appreciation for its efforts to combat obesity in Coronado residents by encouraging them to make healthier choices? The Healthy Eating Active Living Cities campaign seeks to encourage cities to make a difference. What sets apart Coronado home owners and residents is the City’s resolution developed by planners, engineers, recreation services and development personnel. Coronado is actively promoting its walkability, and ease of biking in town, along with encouraging those who live in Coronado to make healthy eating choices.
Park and city planners in Coronado continue to design and construct a community which brings together parks, streets, neighborhoods and business centers to encourage active movement and regulate fast food establishments. Recreational programs are constantly enhanced to provide curriculum for all ages that urges a fit lifestyle and the City of Coronado encourages local businesses and restaurants with their “Step It Up” program. Residents may begin seeing new vending options at local parks and snack shops as well as caloric information on Coronado restaurant menus, as the program gains popularity.
