Bird Festival Welcomes Families Who Live In San Diego
Calling all bird lovers! If you love birds and you live in San Diego, you’ll go crazy over the San Diego Bird Festival, coming up from March 1st through the 4th brought to you be the San Diego Audubon Society. This festival will feature special field birding trips with internationally acclaimed birders, photographers and sea-birding trip leaders present throughout the Festival, leading trips and presenting workshops near your San Diego home. The festival headquarters are at the Marina Village Conference Center near Mission Beach, Ocean Beach and Point Loma, overlooking a beautiful marina.
A special day for families and children will take place on Sunday, March 4th with kid-friendly activities including a Beginning Bird Art Workshop, the Raptor Rap Workshop and a Bird Calling Workshop. All family events on Sunday are free with no pre-registration needed, although you are requested to check in at the festival headquarters registration desk upon arrival for handouts and important information and announcements about Family Free Day events.
A new festival field trip happening this year is Birding Bolboa Park, on of San Diego’s cultural and natural landmarks. Guests may spend the morning birding in and around the numerous gardens and hiking trails that are tucked among the Spanish Renaissance buildings which are home to a variety of bird and butterfly species. In the afternoon, patrons will visit the San Diego Natural History Museum’s extensive avian collection and witness a fascinating demonstration.
