Triathletes Live in Mission Beach
If you live in Mission Beach, cheer on the triathletes coming to town this weekend, April 18th-20th. Olympic-caliber athletes will descend on Mission Beach for the second year. In addition to the triathlon competition, there will also be a spring-distance high-school championship and ITU paratriathlete race. There will also be a ‘race within a race’ to compete for the title of Fiesta Island world record holders, which will be amazing to watch near your Mission Beach home.
Co-producers of the event, USA Triathlon, Hamburg-based UpSolut Sports AG and Lagardere Unlimited, with title sponsor Omegawave, will host an expo to kick off the race, which will feature the latest in gear, gadgets and apparel at Bonita Cove Park. The annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony will follow at Bahia Resort Hotel at 5:30 p.m. on April 18th.
On April 19th, the women’s elite race will begin at 3:30 p.m. at Bonita Cove. The next day, April 20th, a full day of Olympic distance, aquabike, sprint distance, and paratriathlon events will be held at Ventura Cove. The event will conclude with the men’s elite race from Bonita Cove at 4 p.m.
It’s going to be an exciting weekend of competition for all sports-lovers living in Mission Beach. Volunteer and athlete registration are still open. For more information, visit the race website here.
