Live in La Jolla and Spin For CAF
The Tour de Cove is coming to the shores of La Jolla this weekend for a day of fitness, thrill, and unbeatable inspiration. On Sunday, October 21st, you can participate in a four and a half hour cycling and spinning marathon themed Pedal to the Podium and sponsored by the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) and 24 Hour Fitness. If you want to break up the time as a relay, teams of three people are able to register, too, so ask those near you who live in La Jolla to join in the adventure. More than 100 stationary bikes and Krankcycles® will be ready and waiting near your La Jolla home at Ellen Browning Scripps Park/La Jolla Cove, located at 1160 Coast Boulevard.
Registered racers will receive a bag of goodies, as well, including a custom Tour de Cove bike jersey and event t-shirt, along with a sweatshirt, visor, and water bottle. To register, participants must choose their level of competition, either “Yellow Jersey” to “Polka Dot Team Jersey” and click here to pay fees and fill out needed forms and waivers. All funds raised (nearly $75,000 so far) will be donated to assist physically challenged individuals through the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF). Examples of needs include adaptive sports equipment and sports prosthetics, handcycles, mono-skis, racing and basketball wheelchairs. Competition and training expenses, mentoring and fitness clinics, and community outreach programs are other programs funded by CAF.
