La Jolla Neighborhoods in Focus: La Jolla Mesa

La Jolla Community, News | 29th Sep 2013

coronado bayLa Jolla Mesa is a San Diego County neighborhood to take your breath away.  The area’s amazing natural beauty unfolds down the southern slope of Mount Soledad in La Jolla.  The higher up this slope, the more astonishing the views become.  With eyes on Pacific Beach, the San Diego Skyline, Coronado Bay, and even Mexico on a clear day, La Jolla Mesa provides sun, sights and surf all in one  perfect place to live, work and play.

Homes in this area generally range from $950,000 to $1.5 million plus.  As the elevation and views become more expansive, so do the market values, with select homes topping off at the high end of $5-$6 million.  In any price range, homes can be found in a pleasing array of architectures.   Most homes were built mid-century from the 1940s through the 1970s.  Find California Ranch, Mediterranean inspired villas and sleek modern designs to appeal to any taste.  Within easy distance of beaches, dining and shopping, residences here are ideal for vacation homes or rental investments.  There are many opportunities to lease on a short or long term basis here, both in furnished and unfurnished properties.  Less than two miles from the oceanside, La Jolla Mesa is a prime spot for short term summer rentals.

La Jolla Mesa is also a perfect place to raise a family.  Because of the location on the southern side of the slope, this area gets the most sunshine in San Diego.  Properties are all single family and primarily single story to preserve the accessibility of views and an easy going La Jolla lifestyle.  There are no condos or high rises in the neighborhood.   Bird Rock Park and Bird Rock Elementary School are also highly regarded as major benefits of the community.  Opened in 1951, the school is an active element of the community identity.

The area offers plenty of recreation and entertainment for families.  Beaches, golf, retail, movie theaters, comedy clubs and more are all just minutes away down the slope.  Check out La Jolla Mesa for your dream home.
