Coronado Home to Pickleball Introduction

Coronado Community, News | 28th Sep 2012

Pickleball near your Coronado homeIf you are looking for a little fun in the sun tomorrow, Saturday, September 29th, don’t forget to stop by the Coronado Tennis Center between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.  A debut introductory Pickle Ball class will be held for all Coronado residents to learn about this fast growing sport.  It brings the skills needed in ping pong, tennis, badminton and racquetball together in an easy to learn format that keeps you moving, laughing, and enjoying the outdoors near your Coronado home.

The class is sponsored by the Tennis Center and you can call 619.522.2650 with questions.  Equipment will be provided free of charge as you learn this fast moving, fun game on Saturday.  Named Pickleball after the co-inventor’s dog, Pickles, the basics of the game include a lower net than you might expect and a plastic whiffle-like baseball and paddles similar to what you would use in ping pong.  Once you start playing, you’ll want to invite your other friends who live in Coronado to a competitive match of this highly addictive game.

Click the video below to see players in action and get a feel for Pickleball or visit the USA Pickleball Association online to learn more.
