Coronado Home to CYC Junior Classes

Coronado Community, News | 25th Jan 2013

CYC Juniors Practice Near Your Coronado HomeWednesday, February 6th kicks off the next session of Spring sailing classes offered at the Coronado Yacht Club. A long-standing tradition of Coronado home owners, Coronado children often learn to sail before becoming teens through these progressive community classes. If you live in Coronado, you’ll want to enroll your child in the Coronado Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program and watch as he or she progresses.

Beginning classes are offered for children ages six to eight, as the Scallywags & First Mate Combo and from there children progress through in age and skills level groupings through bronze, silver and gold Sabot levels before arriving on the raceteam. Beyond that training can be done on Lasers or in double or single handed racing.

Each registration of multiple children results in a ten percent discount and first time sailors may be eligible for sailing scholarships, as well. Building confidence while building skill is the key to the the CYC Junior Program and parents can expect their children to know the rules and etiquette of the sea, along with enhancing everyday life skills.
