The Athenaeum Music & Arts Library of La Jolla
One of only 16 non-profit membership libraries in the United States, the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library of La Jolla is located in the heart of San Diego. Numerous resources and programs are available at this library, oftentimes things found with no other facility in the area. Inside you will find an extensive collection of art and music books and materials such as CDs, DVDs, sheet music periodicals and more. The library constantly strives to add more to their collection so you will always find it expanding.
More than Reading
In addition to a large selection of music related memorabilia in all genres of music you will also find excitement with the many classes, lectures, concerts and other special events taking place at the St. Jolla Music & Arts Library. These activities are available to the public and while some are free there are also paid events. The library staff encourages participation from the community just as much as they encourage enjoyment of the events.
Special Programs and Events at the Library
Some of the fun things offered at the library for your enjoyment include:
v Children’s Story Time: Taking place each Wednesday of the week, children of all ages can listen to a great story at the library.
v School of the Arts: The school of the Arts is the premier learning center for those interested in a career in music or arts.
v Exhibits: Inside of the library you will find exhibits from students and the community. Many pieces of fine art are strategically placed for viewing inside of the library.
v Concerts: Regular concerns, mini-concerts and even a summer concert series are all offered from the La Jolla library.
v Music & Arts in Education Program: This is available for any classroom in the La Jolla/San Diego area. The program presents three different presentations to youth, all of which are designed to educate the minds of young ones in music and fine arts.
v Lectures: many lectures are presented at the library on a regular basis offering various topics. The next upcoming lecture is scheduled for January 20, 2014 and again in March. It is titled Write Out Loud. Another exciting Art History lecture will also be taking place in the very near future (February) that is very much worth checking out.

The A Club
The A membership is available at the library and aimed at young music professionals and those who hold this art deep within their heart. With a membership in the A Club members are entitled to even more from the library. This includes special events and dinners/parties, activities, special membership privileges and so much more.
The Athenaeum Music &Arts Library is open to the public five days per week. In order to check materials out from the library membership must be attained and dues paid, which are very minimal and due on an annual basis.
The La Jolla library is one of the best in the entire state of California for anyone who appreciates fine arts and music. They offer many great programs and excitement for youth of all ages, and just as much fun for adults, too.
