When a Famed Architect, a Techy, and Interior Designer Collaborate, a Masterpiece is Born: The Arc House, Iconic La Jolla Village Contemporary

Iconic Village Contemporary

A home that takes 4 years from concept to completion, utilizing top quality materials warrants a distinctive name. Inspired by the sweeping roofline curve and the way the house was built like a custom boat, the owners deemed their home The Arc House, where modern architecture, masterful design and Intuitive technology converge to create an extraordinary work of art. Perfectly placed in the Village of La Jolla, the home features 5,213 sq.ft. plus an exceedingly rare 3,000 sq. ft. 5-car garage with an automobile turntable, custom elevator & approximately 1,000 sq. ft. of deck space. Being in the heart of the Village of La Jolla puts world-class shopping, restaurants and beaches at your fingertips.

When the minds of those best in their field collaborate with essentially a carte blanche, the home naturally became a showcase of their work. The owners enlisted architect William Hayer along with custom homebuilder Mueller Homes who collectively have more that 100 years of experience. Their experience and expertise paid off as The Arc House was awarded Custom Home of the Year (ICON awards) for Southern California in 2014 and 2015.

The husband, a techy, ensured that the home’s technology is cutting edge and had the foresight to secure the backplane of the technology so that it can be upgraded as technology advances. To this day, the home’s technology is advanced where it hasn’t needed an upgrade yet. The wife, an interior designer, hand picked custom furniture, finishings and built-in art pieces throughout the house.

A floating walkway leads you to a glass front entry where a floor to second floor ceiling water feature greets you to lead visitors upstairs to the living areas where ocean views and a harmonious balance between indoor and outdoor areas abound. The living room features 1 of 3 saltwater aquariums in the home, a wall-mounted TV artfully concealed and pocket doors leading out to the patio. The custom spiral staircase leads to the rooftop ocean view deck with day bed, fireplace, refrigerator/freezer, and gas fire pit bowl. All 4 bedrooms include en suite baths, with the master suite accented with custom art, striking spherical fireplace and an outdoor patio to enjoy your morning coffee and news. Complete with his & hers walk-in closets, and a master bath equipped with towel warmer and steam shower, finished in limestone and fossil brown marble.
