Marine Street Beach in La Jolla
Marine Street Beach is a legendary Southern California spot for body surfers and body boarders. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the San Diego area and delivers an incredible shore-break that gives the adventurous one exciting ride.
Sun, Surf and Sand at Marine Street Beach
Marine Street Beach features gorgeous white sand, unparalleled views and privacy, making it a great place for sunbathing and catching up with friends. The waves here are steep, fast and hollow and break very close to the shore. These conditions are not ideal for stand-up surfing, but are perfect for body surfing and boogie boarding. The beach also features a rock reef at each end – Simmons Reef on the south and Horseshoe Reef to the north. The water is often crystal clear, making it a great destination for snorkelers.
Beachgoers should note that the surf at Marine Beach is powerful and is not recommended for children. Waves here have caused serious injury to swimmers and body boarders, and it is advised that inexperienced surfers and boarders respect the water.
Treat yourself by arriving early in the morning or late in the evening for a walk along the beach. You’ll see some stunning scenery and beautiful skies not often found along the Southern California coast.
